No one mourns the wicked

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
As soon as Edward receives the news that Envy is dead, he puts in a call to Van's apartment.

making calls, rounding the troops, about to get news

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Edward is on the phone right now, talking to Hohenheim upstairs. "You're sure you don't have anything?" he asks for the billionth time. "Because seriously, I can't imagine who else on the grounds would have this thing. I don't ask for it lightly."

At the negative answer, he sighs. "All right, Dad. Thanks. Give my love to Mom, tell the kids to behave or I'll start charging them separate rent, you know the routine. Bye."

He hangs up the phone and sits back in his chair, rubbing his face tiredly. This was going to be present an interesting challenge.

and meanwhile....

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
While Van was having a dinner full of revelations in Amestris, Edward was just sitting down to dinner with his own family. "So which one of you cooked tonight?" he asks as he holds Riza's seat for her before taking his own. "I need to know who to kiss and how much." He glances at his husband, then to his sister-in-law.

Invader in the castle!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Edward PINs into Fanelia, just outside the palace. He looks up at it. "Impressive," he mutters to himself, then decides to just walk on in.

Of course, he's stopped by palace guards. He ignores them, transmuting cages around them from the ground. He's leaving a trail of chaos and discontent behind him as he wanders around, trying to find Van.

Finally, he gets tired of looking and waits for the next guard or courtier to accost him. Eventually, a guard does, demanding to know who he is and how he got in. Edward transmutes the ground into a perpetual transmutation, creating two stone hands that reach up and wrestle the guard's sword away from him and hands it over to Edward.

"Nice sword," he says, then claps his hands and rusts it into dust. "Now, we'll do things my way." He transmutes a blade from his automail. "Take me to where Van is. I need to talk to him."

Taking the guard hostage seems to convince the guard that he wants to cooperate, and soon, he's led to Van's throne room.

Happy birthday, Al!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
It's Al's birthday! And Ed has a special present for him. Isn't that sweet? It's a big chunk of rock. But not just any rock! It has an alchemical circle carved clumsily into it and their names in childish handwriting. Edward rescued the chunk of rock from Rizenbul, from a special spot that not even Winry knew about where the brothers would retreat to when they wanted to get away from everyone.

It's wrapped up in a very heavy box right now. Edward goes and knocks on Al's door. "Hey, birthday boy, get up," he says to his sleeping brother.

Spreading the sick!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
First Al was sick. Then Edward fell, getting hit with more flu-like symptoms than the norovirus-symptoms Al had. Al was still sick, now coughing and achy and running a fever. Whatever he had that made him puke, it wasn't the norovirus, because it's influenza that's spreading around now.

It won't take long for everyone but William to be sick.

Edward is currently at his desk, resting his head on the surface, running a low fever, achy, coughing and fighting a case of congestion that makes his head and sinuses hurt. Who wants to come in and get infected?

Edward is enjoying his day, leaving paperwork for another time, snuggled back on Alfons's lap, his favorite chair~, with a book on advanced physics. Riza's in her usual chair with her book and a cup of tea, and Alfons has some book on rocketry. William's off with his wife and three children, and Al's helping Fletcher and one of the slightly younger Edwards in the gardens.

It's a rather nice day, all considered.

Another conversation

While Al fielded talking to Winry and Sheska, Edward headed up to the rooftop where the Tringhams were. "Yo, imposters!" Edward calls out once he's up there.

Yes, he still ribs them for that.

A conversation (yay for self-threading!)

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Edward goes into the sitting room made for Delilah and William and the girls to find his older brother, finding him there with Delilah and the girls.

"Hey, Brian, got a second?" he asks.

Edward had decided not to confront Russell the very day he figured out what Fletcher's mysterious recurring illness was, sleeping on the issue instead, hoping it'd give him some more insight into the best way to confront Russell about it.

It hadn't worked.

So Edward climbed the stairs to the rooftop where Russell was working, taking his daily smoke break and still debating how to handle this issue before Fletcher's health really became a danger.

I've been wrong, I've been down, been to the bottom of every bottle

Edward has been seen walking up and down the stairs of the first building quite a bit lately.

Ever since being released from the temporary clinc- a clinic that may end up being more long-term than originally hoped, with Edward unable and not allowed to perform large transmutations or do high intensity labor- he's been following Winry's rules for lifestyle changes, removing himself from most of his landlord duties except the paperwork, which takes him very little time, and climbing stairs when he lacked anything else to do because that's one of the few things he's allowed to do that doesn't involve sitting on his rear end.

It took him a little bit of time, but he managed to convince his family to stop trying to fuss over him when he went on these incredibly boring walks, so it was time to himself without being hovered over protectively. After the first couple days of friends and family that didn't live with him stopping him on the stairs to do their own fussing, people stopped paying much mind to his daily excursions.

Which gives Edward the freedom to go up to the rooftop and sit down on the ledge, and pull out a half-gone pack of cigarettes from his shirt pocket under his vest. Nobody had told him about the restriction against smoking- as far as anybody knew, he'd never smoked more than one or two cigarettes in his life and didn't like it either time, so nobody ever thought of it. But even wtihout being told, Edward has a feeling if his family knew, they'd take the cigarettes away, and Edward is running out of bad habits to untangle the mess of stress in his head. His own paranoia has him convinced at this point that they'd take the cigarettes away out of sheer spite.

So far, the only thing the treatments have done was prevent any further problems, and make Edward's brain feel even more tangled and detached from reality. He feels ready to explode.

He said "I was finally the husband that most the time I wasn't"

He said: "I was in my early forties,
With a lot of life before me,
An' a moment came that stopped me on a dime.
I spent most of the next days,
Looking at the x-rays,
An' talking 'bout the options,
An' talkin’ ‘bout sweet time."
I asked him when it sank in,
That this might really be the real end?
How’s it hit you when you get that kind of news?

There'd never been anything formally arranged or announced with either of Edward's spouses. They'd simply started all three living together, agreeing to the unconventional arrangement, ensuring that Edward would not have to worry about losing either one, and gaining a new family in the process. Edward had never asked either to be his spouse and not just a bedmate- with Edward, saying 'I love you' meant forever just as much as 'marry me' ever would have. There was never anything formal. Riza just started using Edward's name- some of that was for the sake of convenience- the Nexus had quite a few alternates of hers running around, and this made it simple. Alfons never took the Elric name, but given that there was already an Alphonse Elric in the family, nobody really thought much about it.

Nothing had ever been formal. One day, Edward just started wearing a ring on his left ring finger, a plain band of half white-gold, half yellow-gold. Nobody said anything about it, really, including Edward.

Catching a time when both Riza and Alfons were both out in the kitchen, or in the living room, or somewhere were neither were in their rooms, wasn't easy. Alfons was more likely to wander out into the living room, but Riza tended to spend long hours in her room with a book and two furry companions. But sometimes, they were both in the kitchen.

It was during one of those few times that Edward snuck into the two bedrooms and left something on their nightstands. Simple, plain bands- white-gold for Alfons, and yellow-gold for Riza. Both ought to fit them fine, and if not, then very closely.

Edward didn't say anything about it. He never does. But whenever his two mates go to their rooms, they ought to find the closest thing to a formal proposal Edward's ever given.

And the heart won't lie

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
((This does not take place in present time for what's going on in the Nexus- we've been out of the loop here for a few years, and as I said on another catching up post, I don't like saying my characters have lived in limbo while I've been gone. Their lives have gone on and they've done stuff, I just haven't been playing it out or... really letting anyone else know. :D;; Well, to be fair, we've poked and played out some of this on IRC, but stress from real-life-sucks crap made it difficult for us to get stuff from IRC logs onto IJ. So we're playing catch up now. This happened towards the end of construction of the second building- Al and Ed had just finished the fourth floor for the most part and were putting in the last bit of work and the roof so the place could be called done except for decor and furnishing. We've got a couple more uh... big things to catch up. :D;;; Sorry, guys.

For right now, since we're just playing catch up, this isn't open, it's just story. If you think your character would really really really have an appearance and say, feel free to comment OOC and let us know. ^_^))

It had been three years that Edward had been in the Nexus, and not quite as long since the stressful automail surgery. His family had started rebuilding itself during that time- Riza and Alfons, then his little brother, and an older brother that seemed more content that he had a place where he could curl up in cat form in a sunbeam and remain largely undisturbed for the day. While he still had days where reality did not seem fully synched up in his head, he had, by all appearances, recovered from the months spent in Munich with no food, a broken soulbond, and an unbearable loneliness.

Appearances can be deceiving.

While Edward and Riza had noticed a certain transcience to their residents list, given the nature of the Nexus, it was very common for there to be only one, if any, apartments still available if someone new came to the door, needing a place to stay on a low budget.

Edward, being a good candidate for being George Bailey's alternate- in heart if not in physique- didn't like the thought that one day, someone would come looking for a place and he'd have nothing to offer. So after some creative book-juggling to make the budget allow for the raw materials (which were easy to cheat on- natural resources, god bless 'em) and the utility hook ups, Edward and his family had agreed that a second building was in order.

Like the first, it was four stories, red brick, with thick, well-insulated (and semi-soundproofed, god love the boy and his foresight) walls, simple interior decor- all units prefurnished, of course- a basement laundry facility and roof top access. It's taken just shy of a month- while their teacher had taught them to use more conventional means than alchemy whenever necessary, both Edward and his brother had been willing to cheat for this project and with two master alchemists, even being methodical and triple checking everything, the time the work took had decreased dramatically.

At this particular point in time, all that's left is the final work on the interior walls of the fourth floor, and then the roof.

While Edward has been keeping up with his sparring with his brother and his physical activity, life has been rather slow for the Elrics up to this point, and with few exceptions, it had been an incredibly long time since Edward had performed any transmutations this large and high-stress. Nor has he had reason to push himself physically quite as hard as the construction process has been pushing him.

And of course, he's an Elric. He has the natural urge to show off, even if he has otherwise become largely a hermit. This urge to show off means he's pushing himself even more than necessary right now. He's an Edward Elric, they all have an unsual ability to handle that sort of physical overload, and recover quickly when they finally do cross the line. He doesn't think anything of it. Neither does his brother.

So he doesn't think anything of picking up a large beam of wood that will replace a stud beam in the wall of what will be apartment 15B that had gotten damaged, all by himself. He thinks he may take a break here after this, though- he's getting a bit dizzy. It's been awhile since he's stopped to take a drink of water- that's probably all it is.
